Injuries & Moves: Garrett returns to Nats Park; Rainey update
LATEST NEWS
Sept. 3: OF Stone Garrett joins team at Nationals Park following injury
Garrett, who fractured his left fibula on Aug. 23, arrived at Nationals Park on Sunday morning to see his teammates for the first time since his injury. The Nats erupted in excited greetings when he entered the clubhouse.
"He's one of our favorites in that clubhouse when it comes to the guys, and just a good kid," manager Dave Martinez said. "By listening to him and listening to them talking back there, he misses the guys. Being around these next few weeks will be nice for him to kind of get back in the swing of just being in the clubhouse and enjoying the company of his teammates."
Sept. 3: RHP Tanner Rainey to continue rehabbing at Triple-A Rochester
Rainey, who underwent Tommy John surgery last August, threw back-to-back days with Rochester on Wednesday and Thursday. He tossed a total of 1 2/3 innings with two hits, one run, three walks and two strikeouts.
"I talked to him today, he's going to continue to throw down there and get a few more outings," manager Dave Martinez said on Sunday. "He's feeling better. He was a little achy after those last outings, but he thought that was going to be the norm -- which we all thought that. He's getting closer, but we want to be sure that all that achiness and stuff goes away before he gets an opportunity to come back here."
